A Mental Performance System for Teams and Athletic Programs

One speech may create a good day.

A team needs more than one good day.

The Game Within team model gives athletes a shared mental performance language, individual learning accounts, an approved assessment process, recurring coaching, and a program-specific dashboard when the engagement calls for it.
Shawn Collins works with the team to turn the course into a practical rhythm that can be used in practice, competition, team meetings, player conversations, and season review.

What Each Athlete Receives

Every participating athlete may receive:

  • Annual access to The Game Within.
  • An individual athlete portal.
  • Video instruction and printable worksheets.
  • Access to the BETTER Athlete Community.
  • A team-specific Mental Performance Index experience.
  • Team coaching sessions with Shawn.
  • Optional private athlete coaching when separately approved and enrolled.

What the Program Receives

The team or program may receive:

  • A program-specific assessment link.
  • A dedicated enrollment or paywall process.
  • A custom, exclusive team dashboard within BETTER-approved fields and access.
  • Team-level baseline and follow-up views.
  • A launch session for athletes, families, coaches, and program leaders.
  • Recurring team mental performance sessions.
  • A written program rhythm for practice, competition, review, and follow-through.
  • Optional coach, athletic director, parent, or private athlete support.
  • A program review at agreed intervals.

What the Dashboard is For

See Patterns Without Reducing Athletes to a Score

A team dashboard can help a program review participation, approved assessment information, team patterns, and change over time. It should help the coaching process answer practical questions:

  • Where are common pressure patterns appearing?
  • What early signs of drift are athletes learning to notice?
  • Which course themes need another team conversation?
  • Are athletes becoming more specific about their reset?
  • Which issues belong in a team session?
  • Which issues belong in a private conversation?
  • What should the program practice next?

What the Dashboard is Not For

The dashboard should not be used to:

  • Rank athletes publicly.
  • Make automatic roster or playing-time decisions.
  • Replace coach judgment.
  • Diagnose mental-health conditions.
  • Display private coaching notes.
  • Pressure athletes to disclose personal information.
  • Promise wins, statistics, recruitment, or scholarships.

Program Phases

Phase 1:

Scope and Consent

Confirm the buyer, roster, age range, sport, season, coaching cadence, team paywall, dashboard users, data access, parent or legal guardian consent, and program goals.

Phase 2

Baseline

Athletes complete enrollment, receive individual accounts, and take the approved team-specific Mental Performance Index.

Phase 3:

Course and Team Launch

Shawn introduces the four-stage pathway and explains how the team will use the course, community, assessment, coaching, and dashboard.

Phase 4:

Recurring Application

The team meets at the agreed cadence. Sessions use real team situations and course language to set one practical focus for the next practice or competition window.

PHASE 5:

Scope and Consent

The program reviews participation, agreed indicators, athlete feedback, coaching usefulness, and the next period of work.

Southern Indiana Vibe Pilot

Southern Indiana Vibe Softball is the first controlled team use case.
Each participating player will have an individual Game Within portal. The team will use its dedicated Mental Performance Index link. Shawn will use an approved Vibe dashboard to guide the team’s recurring mental performance work.
Because Shawn is also part of the coaching staff, the pilot will use explicit parent consent, clear disclosure of what is visible, and a strict separation between private coaching information and playing-time or roster decisions.

Who Can Sponsor a Program?

A team engagement may be purchased or sponsored by:

  • A school or athletic department.
  • A travel or club organization.
  • A head coach or program director.
  • A booster or parent organization.
  • A donor, foundation, or community sponsor.
  • A business supporting athlete development.
  • A college program or athletics unit.

The scope and payment structure must identify the buyer, participants, access roles, data responsibilities, and renewal terms.

    Program Investment

Team and program pricing is custom. The fee should account for:

    • Number of athlete accounts.
    • Annual Game Within access.
    • Dashboard setup and support.
    • Team coaching cadence.
    • Optional private coaching.
    • Parent, coach, or staff sessions.
    • Reporting and review.
    • Travel when applicable.
    • Program length and renewal.

    Frequently Asked Questions
